The Canada Revenue Agency is the revenue service of the Government of Canada that is responsible for the collection of taxation and administration of tax laws and tax policy, such as international trade legislation, and various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system for the federal government and most provincial and territorial governments. It also oversees the registration of charities in Canada, and tax credit programmes.
My role as a Data Scientist with the Business Intelligence, Research and Analytics Division focuses on conducting quantitative and qualitative research activities in support of the development, deployment and maintenance of predictive models using various machine learning algorithms. These models help our program partners achieve their business objectives by predicting taxpayer behaviours, enhancing workload selection/workload management and improve overall risk management.

This included, accessing large volumes of data such as, trading volumes and the movement of capital, historical performances and future trends of stocks, bonds and other investment instruments to analyze performance trends to scrutinize RISK and money laundering activities.

In my role I was responsible for Incident & Problem Management - Troubleshooting issues, leading technical investigations and supporting RBC’s Capital market platforms in a demanding 24/7 environment and performing root cause analysis of technical outages. I was also involved in working closely with change control management to plan and implement changes into the production environment and to conducted end to end user acceptance testing.
